Match Information

This match is the first match of its kind in the United States and open to all USPSA members who are in the junior category (under the age of 18) at the beginning of the match and at special request of the USPSA President, Michael Voigt, their parents. Invitations will be sent to all junior USPSA members, inviting them to this match. All divisions and classes will be recognized.

The match will consist of 10 special junior stages, 250 + rounds, shot over 2 ½ days. We will be using dedicated USPSA Range Officers for this match. Shooting will take place each day for half of the day to give participants the opportunity to attend competition workshops the other half a day and have some fun shooting other guns on the range. You will shoot alternate ½ days on the 3rd and 4th of July. The workshops are free and will be put on by some of the top names in our sport.

The U.S. Junior Invitational match takes place four days after the Area 1 Championships in Portland, Oregon which is about 50 miles from Albany. Look at the opportunity to shoot in two of the best USPSA matches taking place this year within a few days of each other in the same area.

Workshops take place everyday and will focus on how to improve shooting skills. Special events will include 4th of July fireworks, special junior full auto shoot, free trap, five stand and multi-gun shooting.

Awards ceremony will take place Saturday afternoon, July 5th, with awards being presented to all competitors and divisions / classes 1st thru 3rd place. Every junior participating will receive a special USPSA Junior Commemorative Medal.

Registrations will be open to the first 200 juniors and their parents. It would very hard to sit and watch your junior shoot these fantastic stages so we have opened up the match to both juniors and their parents. We want this to be a fun family experience.

Albany Rifle and Pistol Club was the home to the 2006 USPSA Multi Gun Nationals and every year holds the Oregon Single Stack Championships, Oregon Plastic Gun Championships and the Glock GSSF regionals. In 2008 it will also host the Area 1 Multi Gun Championships, All Because of Children Benefit Match, the Oregon State University Benefit Match and Oregon Games Biathlon Run and Shoot. Albany Rifle and Pistol is also part of the Columbia Cascade Section of USPSA, one of the most active sections in the Northwest. Not to mention it is also the home club of Mike McCarter, USPSA Junior Coordinator.

Albany Rifle and Pistol Club is located 60 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 50 miles from the Oregon Cascade mountains. The town of Albany is located along Interstate Highway I-5 about 70 miles south of Portland, Oregon. Portland International Airport is the largest airport in the area with additional airports in Eugene (25 miles away) and Salem (30 miles away).

Tom Chambers, stage designer for many USPSA stages at national matches will be putting together a special collection of stages designed especially for juniors. We know juniors like to move, shoot, move again and shoot even more. The primary goal of this match is FUN. As soon as the stage designs are finished we will put them up on the USPSA Website.
